AUTISM, EVERYDAY LIFE & PARTICIPATION
Supporting Meaningful Participation Within Everyday Life
Living & Learning Aligned focuses on how parents, caregivers, and support providers influence participation across family, home, school, community, and lifespan settings.
Everyday life shapes participation. Adults shape everyday life.
Meaningful Moments
Where life, learning, and participation come together.
These moments are often ordinary parts of everyday life:
routines, meals, transitions, waiting, outings, family activities, community experiences, relationships, hygiene, recreation, stressful moments, joyous moments, and shared experiences throughout the day.
Participation looks different for every individual.
For one person in one moment, participation may involve communicating, contributing, helping, or interacting directly with others. In another moment, it may involve remaining present within the activity, staying regulated, sharing space with others, building familiarity, or participating in a personally meaningful way. These everyday moments matter because daily life continues while learning and development unfold over time.
Living & Learning Aligned focuses on helping adults intentionally support participation within these real-life moments — helping individuals with autism engage meaningfully in family life, community life, relationships, routines, and everyday experiences, in a way that works for their individuality, across the lifespan.
Meaningful moments are not separate from learning.
They are where learning becomes part of life.
